RES INITIATIVESINITIATIVE DETAILS
Recovery Funds: DEED plans to use Recovery funds to build on past RES initiatives such as regionalism, collaboration with other agencies and identifying emerging occupations. Weekly Meetings: DEED holds weekly meetings with representatives from the State adult basic education program, college and university systems, apprenticeship program, job service, rehabilitation program and UI program to collaborate and plan an effective RES program.

Reporting: DEED has hired an accountability manager responsible for reporting on all RES and Recovery programs in order to increase transparency.
Collaboration with Other Offices: DEED is hiring a project manager for system enhancement and increased collaboration between the UI and ES divisions. System Integration: DEED plans to tie together services between UI, the public labor exchange, the case management system and the registration system.

I Seek: Is a career information system DEED is working on that connects claimants to the State job bank.
Targeted Response: DEED has decided to use demographic sorting, not the UI profiling model, to target RES practices to specific groups of workers. Dislocated Worker Program: DEED advertises the State and Federal Dislocated Worker program to specific groups of claimants to offer services for reemployment.

Education and Training: DEED sends claimants to apprenticeship programs, adult basic education services, community colleges and secondary schools for occupational skills, and "hands-on" training programs in order to prepare them for future careers.
Increased Capacity to Serve: Minnesota has already hired 20 RES staffers and plans to hire an additional 40. RES Staff Training: Staff are trained to use RES technology, job links, I Seek, the State registration system and equipment for people with disabilities. Staff also attends local colleges, in contract with DEED, to learn about different learning styles, diversity and facilitation skills in order to serve a wide range of RES clients.

Workshops: RES participants are required to attend two-day workshops on job preparation and research including: the grief associated with job loss and effective job seeking skills such as resume writing and mock interviews.
Labor Exchange: Minnesota Works Minnesota Works:: Lists thousands of job openings and employment opportunities and provides information on job fairs and salary ranges.
