This position is being recruited for at the higher level of the series and as such, will be expected to begin to conduct hearings with very little training and minimal supervision. An Appeals Referee II subpoenas persons and records, arranges for testimony to be recorded, advises witnesses and appellants of the issues and their rights and responsibilities, administers oaths and presides at hearings regarding eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits and tax contribution rates or employer liability. Relevant facts and pertinent evidence is considered in the rendering of a written decision consistent with statutory provisions. The Appeals Tribunal, while a small and hard-working unit, is a very welcoming and helpful group, easy to work with, and supportive of each other and those newly joining its ranks.
Recruitment period ends: 08/14/2009 05:00 PM
